Established in 1946, Mercedes Distribution Center, Inc. is a family owned, New York Corporation. The company occupies 300,000 square feet of a one million square-foot building within the secure walls of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This concrete and steel, multi-floor structure is fully alarmed and monitored around-the-clock by security and patrols.
Currently, Mercedes Distribution has 200 full-time employees, most of whom live within walking distance of our Brooklyn facility. All major truck terminals and courier services, including UPS, FedEx, the USPS, are conveniently located near the yard.
One of the prime reasons for Mercedes Distribution’s continued success has been its ability to evolve and keep pace with the needs of clients seeking to outsource their physical distribution. In the early years, government work was the bulk of our business. In the 1960’s and 1970’s, publishing and print distribution became the thrust of our volume. In the late 1970’s thru the mid 1990’s, trade publishers, home goods and glassware made up the bulk of our business. In the mid 1990’s, Mercedes recognized the huge potential in e-commerce, and began upgrading its Warehouse Management System to accomodate the needs of the e-commerce industry.
Mercedes has the facility, technology and experience to address the most complex fulfillment needs associated with today’s high-volume, online retailers and e-commerce entrepreneurs.
